Flopsy Bunnies and Tiggy Winkles
Babies from birth to two years old - are cared for in the first floor Baby Unit - comprising two large, bright, airy rooms with a separate sleep room.
The babies are split into two younger and older groups – operating under our ethos that all babies and toddlers need to be stimulated from the moment they are born
For that reason we provide challenging play toys appropriate to their age.
For babies aged under one year old there are sensory toys such as treasure baskets full of natural materials to touch, feel and explore with our staff – so they get used to hearing description words such as “rough”, “smooth”, “cold” and “soft”.
As children get older we introduce things that require motor skills such as paint materials and corn flour for basic marking or to explore textures with their fingers. It is not the end product that’s important, but the experiences the babies have during the process.
Whatever the activity we understand the importance of having supportive staff who, at all times, use positive language and demonstrate positive behaviour.
In the baby rooms we try to follow familiar routines to which babies respond well – because a change from their normal home routine can not only be upsetting for the child but create hard work for parents if baby’s evening sleep routine is disrupted. (And parents need sleep too!)
We care for your children… because you care about them
